BOSTON — It’s safe to say David Ortiz earned himself an off day.

The Red Sox designated hitter is out of the lineup Sunday in Boston’s series finale against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park. He ended Saturday’s game in style, clubbing both the game-tying and game-winning hits in an extra-innings thriller before dropping the mic on his way out of the building.

Hanley Ramirez will take Ortiz’s DH spot and bat fifth, while Travis Shaw will slide over to first base and bat fourth. Dustin Pedroia is back in the lineup batting second and playing second base after getting Saturday off, while Josh Rutledge gets the start at third base and will bat seventh.

Ryan Hanigan will bat ninth and do the catching for right-hander Sean O’Sullivan, who is making his second start in a Red Sox uniform after his May 6 call-up from Pawtucket. O’Sullivan earned the win Tuesday in his start against the Oakland Athletics, allowing four runs on 12 hits in six innings pitched.

The Astros will counter with right-handed rookie Chris Devenski, who sports a 1.72 ERA but still is seeking his first win.
