Don’t Expect To See Peyton Manning Working As NFL TV Analyst This Season

It doesn’t sound like Peyton Manning will go directly from the football field to the broadcast booth/studio in the first NFL season following his retirement.

Manning, who retired earlier this offseason after leading the Denver Broncos to a win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, has shown no interest in pursuing a TV career, at least for the upcoming season, network sources told the New York Daily News.

One source even told the Daily News that Manning, through his representatives, has informed the NFL’s TV partners that he’s not pursuing a broadcast job this season.

This isn’t huge news, as it sometimes takes retired players a couple of years to jump into the TV mix or figure out what exactly they’d like to do with their playing days in the rearview mirror. Manning’s personality and football acumen could make him a TV asset, though, so many just assumed he’d immediately transition into a broadcast role after retiring if he didn’t pursue a coaching gig.

In any event, it’s probably just a matter of time before Manning becomes a Sunday mainstay on our TV screens. Just don’t expect any big happenings in that department for the 2016 campaign.
