It’s too bad for Nigel Dawes the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero don’t start for another two months.

The former NHL player took a ridiculous dive Tuesday at the IIHF World Championship during Kazakhstan’s pool-play game. Norway defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen tripped Dawes, who lept into the air and crashed to the ice.

The referee penalized Dawes for for embellishment and sanctioned Tollefsen for hooking.

Norway ended up winning 3-2.

Dawes, 31, was born in Canada but now represents Kazakhstan. It’s probably too late for him to switch sports and qualify for the diving competition at Rio 2016.
