Flashback Friday: Revisiting Bruins’ Game 7 Win Over Lightning In ECF

It’s hard to fathom, but it has been five years since one of the biggest games in Boston Bruins history.

Five years ago Friday, the Bruins advanced to their first Stanley Cup Final since 1990 by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in a legendary Eastern Conference finals Game 7.

The Bruins-Lightning tilt is considered one of the best hockey games in the last 15 or 20 years, and some even believe it’s one of the best Game 7s in Stanley Cup playoffs history. It’s hard to argue with that point, too, as the penalty-free deciding game was a culmination of a hard-fought, back-and-forth series between two deserving teams.

The Bruins, of course, went on to win the Stanley Cup in another seven-game series, edging the Vancouver Canucks for the team’s first Cup win since 1972.
