Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor Reportedly Open To NYE Fight, But …

The idea of a Floyd Mayweather fighting Conor McGregor won’t go away, and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to disappear anytime soon.

TMZSports.com on Friday reported that Mayweather offered McGregor $50 million for a New Year’s Eve fight in Las Vegas. According to the report, McGregor wants in, but it’s not that easy.

As TMZ points out, Mayweather and his camp have to go through UFC president Dana White to make the fight happen, and Mayweather’s people haven’t yet reached out to White. While McGregor might be willing to accept a  small portion of the money such a blockbuster fight would generate, White and the UFC certainly wouldn’t accept those financial terms.

Just last week, White said on ESPN Radio’s “Russillo & Kanell” that a Mayweather-McGregor fight is a long shot.

“Is this thing going to be MMA or boxing rules? Who’s getting the lion’s share of the money? This and that,” White said. “It’s impossible. But like I’ve said, ‘Floyd, you want to fight Conor, call me.'”

At this point, it seems like that’s the only chance this fight happens.
