BOSTON — The Red Sox hung a 14-spot on the Oakland A’s in a blowout victory Monday night.
They picked up right where they left off the following evening.
Mookie Betts began the second game of the three-game series at Fenway Park with a leadoff home run, and Hanley Ramirez followed three batters later with the second-longest homer hit by a major leaguer this season.
Ramirez’s blast — a two-run shot that scored Xander Bogaerts and gave the Red Sox an early 3-0 lead — traveled an estimated 468 feet, according to MLB’s Statcast.

The home run was Ramirez’s third in seven games but just his fourth of the season.
Betts, meanwhile, now has five four-baggers this season and three leadoff homers in his career. Monday’s was his first — and the first by any Red Sox leadoff man — since June 20, 2015.
