Toronto’s first second-round NBA playoff game in 15 years ended in disappointment Tuesday night for Kyle Lowry and the Raptors.
So, more than an hour after the Miami Heat had put the finishing touches on a 102-96 overtime win, Lowry was back on the Air Canada Centre court, putting up additional shots until the wee hours of the morning.
Lowry nailed a half-court buzzer-beater to send the game to overtime, but that was the highlight of an otherwise dismal night for the Raptors point guard. He finished with just seven points on 3-of-13 shooting and misfired on all but one of his seven 3-point attempts.
Those type of totals have been the norm this postseason for Lowry, who’s shooting just 30.6 percent from the floor and 16.0 percent from deep over Toronto’s first eight playoff games.
“It sucks that I’m playing this bad when all eyes are on me, because I know I’m way better than this,” Lowry told reporters after Tuesday’s game, via the Toronto Sun. “So, I’ve got to pick this (expletive) up.
“I passed up a lot of shots (Tuesday night). I passed up a lot — a ton of shots actually. I think that’s what (my shooting struggles) did to me a little bit.”
Game 2 of Heat-Raptors is set for Thursday night in Toronto.
