NFL Pro Bowl Reportedly Moving From Honolulu To Orlando In 2017

The NFL Pro Bowl reportedly has a new home.

The annual All-Star event will move to Orlando, Fla., beginning this NFL season, according to multiple reports. Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii, has hosted all but two Pro Bowls since 1979, so the decision to move the game to central Florida is rather significant, even if the event has lost some of its luster over the years.

The 2017 Pro Bowl will be played at Camping World Stadium (formerly the CitrusBowl), sources told The Associated Press. Orlando reportedly beat out Honolulu, Houston and Sydney for the right to host the event.

A joint press conference between Disney, ESPN and the NFL will take place Wednesday, sources informed of the deal told NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport. It’s unclear whether the sides will announce any additional changes to the Pro Bowl. The league tinkered with the game’s format leading up to the 2013 event, opting instead for unconferenced teams drafted by NFL legends the last three years rather than having All-Stars from the AFC and NFC square off.

The NFL had until Tuesday to notify Honolulu that the contract would not be renewed, according to The AP.
