The New England Patriots will fill their 90-man roster and boost their running back depth Friday.

The Patriots are re-signing running back/fullback Joey Iosefa, a source told NESN.com and the team confirmed later in the day. The Patriots released Iosefa last Friday when they signed eight draft picks and eight undrafted free agents.

Iosefa, a Hawaii product, played in two games for the Patriots last season, carrying the ball 15 times for 51 yards. He had 14 carries for 51 yards in the Patriots’ Week 15 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Iosefa came into the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. The Patriots signed the 6-foot, 245-pounder to their practice squad Oct. 21, 2015 and promoted him to the active roster Dec. 31. He was signed to a future contract after the 2015 season concluded.

Iosefa re-joins LeGarrette Blount, Dion Lewis, Brandon Bolden, James White, Donald Brown, Tyler Gaffney, James Develin and D.J. Foster on the Patriots’ running back depth chart.
