Red Sox’s Eduardo Rodriguez To Miss Next Rehab Start With Knee Soreness

Eduardo Rodriguez’s road back to the Boston Red Sox’s rotation just got even longer.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Tuesday in an interview with WEEI that Rodriguez would miss his next scheduled rehab start because of right knee soreness. The left-hander was set to pitch Thursday for Triple-A Pawtucket.

Rodriguez enjoyed a strong rookie campaign for the Red Sox in 2015 but has yet to pitch for the big club this season after suffering a knee injury during spring training. He has started four games for the PawSox, posting a 4.29 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over 21 innings of work.

“We’d still like to see, I think, an uptick in performance in general,” Farrell told reporters Sunday. “Health-wise, he felt good coming out of (his latest outing). And while (Saturday) is, I think, a slight improvement over his previous start and certainly over two starts ago, he’s going to make his next start in Pawtucket.”

After being rained out Monday night, the Red Sox are scheduled to begin a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium, with a doubleheader to follow on Wednesday.
