Rex Ryan, Rob Ryan Ready For Another Shot At Bill Belichick: 'Bring (Him) On'

Rex Ryan has reinforcements in his never-ending quest to take down Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

The big-mouthed Buffalo Bills head coach now has his big-bellied brother, Rob, on board after hiring the former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator as an assistant head coach to help with the defense.

The Ryan boys know all about the way Belichick does business in Foxboro. Rex obviously has spent the last seven seasons trying to usurp the Patriots atop the AFC East, and Rob actually served on Belichick’s staff as an assistant coach early in Belichick’s Patriots tenure.

Rex and Rob sat down with TheMMQB.com’s Jenny Vrentas for a long interview and, as you might imagine, Belichick came up a few times … eight times, to be exact. Rob Ryan had nothing but praise for the legendary coach, but he also made it very clear what his intentions are.

“And I have worked for Belichick, who is the best head coach in football, in the history of the game,” Rob said. “But we’re going to beat him, and we’re going to beat him together. And it’s going to be an awesome challenge.”

The Ryans might have a little extra motivation, too. They hinted at health problems for their father, longtime football coach Buddy Ryan, saying they’d like to topple Belichick and the Patriots while their father is still around.

VRENTAS: What does your dad think about the two of you coaching together?
ROB: He’s struggling (health-wise). That’s another reason…
REX: …we’re going for broke, man.
ROB: Because, who knows? He’s not going to be able to watch us coach for much longer, I don’t think. But hopefully he can see this one, because we have got big plans. Bring Belichick on. We got him.

The comments are relatively harmless, obviously, but given the history between all of the parties involved, expect this to get played up just a little bit.
