Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is not a bad one-on-one perimeter defender, but he’s by no means an elite one, either.

After the Warriors staved off elimination by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of their Western Conference finals series Thursday night at Oracle Arena, a reporter asked OKC stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook if Curry is an underrated defender.

They didn’t exactly praise Curry. In fact, Westbrook laughed at the question.

It’s no surprise Durant likes when Westbrook is guarded by Curry. Westbrook is one of the NBA’s quickest players, and very few guards, if any, are better at driving to the basket and finishing than him.

Westbrook has averaged 28 points, 11 rebounds and 6.6 assists through five games against the Warriors in this series. Not all of it has come against Curry, but Westbrook is winning that matchup more often than not.
