It’s safe to say Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri landed on his feat when AC Milan fired him two-and-a-half years ago.
Allegri will lead Juventus against AC Milan on Saturday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in the 2016 Coppa Italia (Italian Cup) final. The contest will be the first Coppa Italia final between these teams since 1990, and fans more familiar with that era than the present might have trouble believing where the teams currently stand.
Juventus has won five consecutive Serie A (Italian first division) titles and is looking to complete its second consecutive domestic double with Allegri at the helm.
AC Milan has fallen from its previous heights, having finished seventh in the Serie A standings this season and outside of the top three since every year since 2014. The Rossineri can capture their first Coppa Italia since 2003 and earn a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League with a victory Saturday, but how long they will need to recover their status as challengers to Juventus’ supremacy remains unknown.
