David Ortiz likely will receive all sorts of interesting gifts during his Major League Baseball farewell tour, and that trend continued Thursday night.

The Boston Red Sox slugger played his final game at U.S. Cellular Field as his team finished up a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox. As has become custom for retirement tours, the White Sox honored Big Papi with a special ceremony before the game.

White Sox ace Chris Sale did the honors to present Ortiz with his gift: A humidor of fancy cigars that, according to NESN color analyst Steve Lyons, was handmade by former Chicago outfielder Ron Kittle.

Big Papi also took the microphone to briefly thank the crowd and seemed pretty pleased with the White Sox’s gesture.

White Sox fans likely will be happy to see Ortiz go, as the 40-year-old slugger had blasted 18 home runs in 66 games at U.S. Cellular Field entering Thursday, including a two-run bomb in Wednesday’s 5-2 win. But we’re sure he appreciates the cigars.
