Adam Wainwright Came So Close To Pulling A Randy Johnson, Killing Bird

Randy Johnson accomplished the unthinkable 15 years ago when he accidentally drilled a bird with a pitch, sending feathers flying everywhere.

It was a scene most Major League Baseball fans expected to never be replicated, yet Adam Wainwright nearly had a bird run-in of his own Monday night in the second inning of the St. Louis Cardinals’ game against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Fortunately for this flying creature, Wainright’s offering narrowly missed, allowing the bird to flutter away unscathed.

We’re sure the Cardinals’ mascot, Fredbird, wouldn’t have been too thrilled about the situation had Wainwright actually hit the little guy.
