Albert Pujols put his foot down Sunday in more ways than one.

Pujols didn’t take too kindly to Gerrit Cole staring at one of his teammates in the sixth inning, so the Los Angeles Angels slugger had some words for Cole at first base after the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher singled in the home half of the frame.

Then, two innings later, Pujols added to his statement with a monstrous go-ahead home run off Pirates reliever Tony Watson.

“I don’t want to talk about that,” Pujols told reporters after the game of his exchange with Cole, who seemingly yelled at Kole Calhoun in the infield after the Angels outfielder lined out to end the top of the sixth inning. “I said what I had to say to him, and that’s it.”

Only that wasn’t it, as Pujols’ eighth-inning homer proved to be the difference in the Angels’ 5-4 win.
