Andrew Bogut Out For Rest Of Warriors-Cavs NBA Finals With Knee Injury

Andrew Bogut received some good news but also some very, very bad news regarding the left knee injury he suffered Monday in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

An MRI performed Tuesday revealed that Bogut’s injury won’t require surgery. The Golden State Warriors center has been ruled out for the remainder of the NBA Finals, though, as the expected recovery time for the bone bruises he suffered is a minimum of six to eight weeks.

This is a notable development as the Warriors attempt to hold off the Cleveland Cavaliers, who won Game 5 on the road to save their season. Bogut has played just 60 minutes in the series, but the 7-footer played well in the Warriors’ Game 2 blowout.

Bogut, who was drafted first overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005, averaged 5.4 points, 7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 20.7 minutes per game in the regular season. The 31-year-old was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team last season en route to Golden State’s championship.

Game 6 in Cleveland is scheduled for Thursday night.
