We might be hearing the sound of the crack of a bat during the Olympics once again.

The International Olympic Committee’s executive board announced Wednesday it would support the return of baseball and softball, along with the addition of four other sports, to the Olympics at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.

The four other sports are karate, skateboarding, sports climbing and surfing.

Baseball and softball last appeared in the Olympics in 2008.

The proposal to add new sports is part of a new IOC program called Olympic Agenda 2020, which gives “host cities the option of suggesting new sports and events for inclusion in their edition of the Games.”

The five sports will be voted on during the 129th IOC session in August.

The committee added that the new sports “will not take places away from athletes in existing Olympic sports.”
