The Pittsburgh Penguins now enjoy a commanding lead in the Stanley Cup Final against the San Jose Sharks, and they can thank a Melrose, Mass., native for that.

Conor Sheary scored the winning goal for the Penguins at the 2:35 mark in overtime, lifting Pittsburgh to a 2-1 Game 2 victory and a two-games-to-none lead in the best-of-seven series.

This was the former UMass captain’s second goal of the Final. Justin Braun, who also went to UMass, scored the Sharks’ only goal with just over four minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime.

Not bad, Minutemen. Not bad at all.
