Donald Trump Tells Rally-Goers ‘San Francisco’ Is Playing In NBA Finals

Donald Trump made headlines in the sports world earlier this week by voicing his displeasure over the PGA Tour’s decision to move the tournament normally held at his Doral golf course in South Florida to Mexico.

The likely Republican presidential nominee held a campaign rally Thursday in San Jose ahead of the California primary election June 7.

What better way to fire up the Bay Area crowd than by mentioning the Golden State Warriors ahead of Thursday’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals, right? Well, Trump made a mistake by saying “San Francisco” was playing that night. Apparently, no one on Trump’s campaign staff informed him the Dubs play in Oakland.

It has been a rough year for Republican candidates talking about basketball. Former GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz called a basketball hoop a “basketball ring” at an event before the Indiana primary in May.

This mistake might not even matter for Trump when it comes time for California to vote in November. A Republican presidential nominee hasn’t won California since 1988.
