The Florida Panthers once again have a new look.

The Panthers have tweaked their jerseys on multiple occasions since their inaugral season in 1993, but the primary logo has remain unchanged — until now.

The Panthers on Thursday unveiled a new logo and uniforms. Speculation about the new logo leaked months ago, and that speculation was confirmed Thursday.

The Panthers billed the new primary logo as a “more mature and stoic panther.” Additionally, the logo was inspired by the 101st Airborne Division’s “Screaming Eagle” patch, an honor that was very important for Panthers owner Vinnie Viola, a West Point graduate.

“For something to be so powerful, a set of values that create a dedication from an individual around events that happened 30, 40, 50 years before,” Viola said in a statement released by the team. “That means the impact of that patch and the sacrifice it represents, every soldier that came before you, many giving their lives, was honored to wear that screaming eagle patch. I want that same feeling on a young player or a veteran player that comes to our team.”
