Most basketball fans don’t know a whole lot about Dragan Bender, who could be a top-three pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. But at least we know he has one thing in common with just about every American who lived through the 1990s.

In a recent, wide-ranging interview with The New York Times’ Sam Borden, Bender talked about how he started playing basketball, the comparisons between him and Kristaps Porzingis, and his disagreement over shoes with the Croatian national team. But perhaps the most interesting tidbit was about how he learned to speak English.

Instead of learning in school, Bender said he picked up English by watching TV shows like “Friends” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Of course Bender was just a kid when “Friends” ended, so he had to find other ways to watch one of his favorite shows.

“I know, but I found it on the Internet,” Bender told Borden. “I love it. I’ve watched every one. My favorite character is Chandler.”

This might warrant a follow-up question at his upcoming workout with the Boston Celtics.
