Want a shot at Kevin Durant this summer? Get in line.

Durant’s quest for a ring fell short again Monday when his Oklahoma City Thunder lost Game 7 of the Western Conference finals to the Golden State Warriors. Almost immediately after, rumors started flying about where the impending free agent will take his talents next season.

Among those reportedly in the hunt for Durant are marquee teams like the Warriors and San Antonio Spurs and storied franchises such as the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

But don’t tell that to Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, who apparently thinks Durant could come to the worst team in basketball.

Here’s your reminder that Embiid has yet to play a single game for the Sixers since getting drafted No. 3 overall in 2014, and that Philly hasn’t won 20 or more games in season since 2012-13.

Of course, we can’t knock the 22-year-old big man for trying, and the Sixers, who own the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, have a promising future. Yet it seems likely Durant will join a team that can win him a championship now, not five years down the road.

We can’t say for certain where Durant will end up, but we do know Embiid certainly won’t be the last NBA player to blow up the All-Star’s mentions.
