An exclusive club reportedly will get the first shot at this offseason’s top free agent.

The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are the first three teams to secure meetings with impending free agent Kevin Durant, league sources told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein. Those meetings reportedly will take place next weekend, shortly after the NBA’s free agency period begins July 1.

Several other teams, including the Boston Celtics, are expected to meet with Durant, but the Warriors, Spurs and Thunder reportedly are the first three to lock down a face-to-face meeting with the seven-time All-Star.

The Warriors and Spurs apparently will pull out all the stops to try to lure Durant away from OKC. Per Stein’s sources, both teams will “load a plane full of key organizational figures” and “fly to an undisclosed location” to make their pitch to the 27-year-old forward.

Those names will include All-Star guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson for Golden State and head coach Gregg Popovich and veteran big man Tim Duncan for San Antonio.

These developments aren’t the best news for the rest of the league, as they’ll seemingly have to wait for Durant to hear pitches from the NBA’s elite in the Spurs and Warriors and his current club in the Thunder before they can get a crack at the superstar forward.
