Kyrie Irving is an alien and has stolen Stephen Curry’s talent for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
There’s no other real explanation for the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, a former All-Star who simply hasn’t played well all postseason, exploding during the first half of Wednesday night’s contest while Curry, the two-time defending MVP, sulked on the bench.
Irving had Curry on skates in the first quarter, using this incredible set of crossover moves to make a fool of his opponent en route to 16 first-quarter points on 7-of-9 shooting.
Irving finished with 19 points in the opening half, a performance that was a microcosm of the beginning of Game 3, which Cleveland led by as many as 20 points and took an eight-point lead into halftime.
Curry, riddled with foul trouble, scored just two points on 1-of-5 shooting in 16 minutes of action, while teammate Klay Thompson briefly left the game with a painful left quad contusion.
Of course, the NBA saw a similar troublesome event happen 20 years ago when a group of aliens who called themselves the Monstars stole several All-Stars’ talents. It took the greatest player of all time — Michael Jordan — to defeat them, as documented in the film “Space Jam.”
Can Curry, the reigning NBA MVP, do the same?
