Beast Mode couldn’t have been any more direct.
Although there’s been a lot of chatter about Marshawn Lynch’s NFL future, the running back left no doubt he’s retired in an interview with Showtime’s “60 Minutes Sports” scheduled to air Tuesday.
“I’m retired,” Lynch said. “Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? This one? I’m done. I’m not playing football anymore.”
Lynch tweeted a photo of a hanging pair of cleats during Super Bowl 50, seemingly indicating that he was retiring after nine seasons in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks thanked him in a tweet and Lynch’s agent, Doug Hendrickson, later confirmed to The Associated Press that the running back indeed planned to retire, but there’s still been plenty of speculation that he might change his mind. So far, he hasn’t.
“I’m done. I’m done,” Lynch told “60 Minute Sports” in the interview that will air Tuesday. “I enjoyed my time playing. Now it’s time to watch my cousins do their thing.”
Lynch, drafted by Buffalo in 2007, spent three-plus seasons with the Bills before being traded to Seattle during the 2010 season. The 30-year-old walks away having racked up 9,112 rushing yards, 74 rushing touchdowns and five Pro Bowl selections.
