UPDATE (7:56 p.m. ET): The man did it again.
Mookie Betts hit another solo shot in the second inning, giving him five home runs in his last seven at-bats. It’s also the second straight game he’s homered in the first and second innings.
This time, though, Betts’ dinger was in response to Orioles starter Mike Wright throwing at his head.
ORIGINAL STORY: It’s time to start questioning whether Mookie Betts has some kind of super power.
The Boston Red Sox right fielder sent the second pitch of the club’s game against the Baltimore Orioles out of the yard for the second consecutive game Wednesday, this time hitting a Mike Wright fastball to right-center field.
Betts became the first Red Sox player to hit leadoff home runs in consecutive games since Mike Aviles did it May 19 and May 20, 2012, against the Philadelphia Phillies. It also was Betts’ fourth home run in his last six at-bats after slugging three homers in Tuesday’s contest.
Naturally, the Red Sox dugout was happy to see Betts after he touched home plate.

The home run was Betts’ 13th of the season, which is only one fewer than David Ortiz’s team-high 14.
