NBA free agency starts about a week after Thursday’s NBA Draft, and the rumor mill already is churning at a fast pace.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic are among many teams with salary cap space to spend this summer, and they reportedly have at least one common target between them: Al Horford.

Horford arguably is the second-most coveted free agent that will hit the open market (assuming Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant does, too). The former No. 3 overall draft pick is effective at both ends of the floor as a power forward or center, providing valuable versatility.

Horford averaged 15.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game this season. He helped the Hawks reach the playoffs in all eight of his seasons in Atlanta so far.

The 30-year-old also could opt to remain in Atlanta. After all, the Hawks still have a really good team and have made the Eastern Conference finals and semifinals in each of the last two seasons, respectively.
