We realize summer is just a few weeks away, but it looks like winter is coming in Pittsburgh.

The Pirates have decided to put an awesome new twist on an everyday announcement, unveiling a new starting lineup video that’s modeled after the opening credits on the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones.”

We don’t know who’s behind this, but they nailed it, right down to the shifting gears and panoramic flyovers of King’s Landing Pittsburgh.

If that doesn’t get you fired up for a clash of baseball gladiators, we don’t know what will.

The Pirates’ awesome new intro seems to be working, as the team stopped a four-game skid by winning three of its last five. But the Bucs still have a long way to go to wrest the Iron Throne from the Chicago Cubs, who own a 9 1/2-game lead in the National League Central and are storming through Westeros Major League Baseball with a league-best 41-17 record.
