Red Sox Being Cautious With Brock Holt’s Return In Thin Left Field

1,692

The Boston Red Sox have had some pretty tough luck in left field this season.

The Sox have employed seven different left fielders already as a result of injuries to Brock Holt, Blake Swihart and Ryan Hanigan, and Ryan LaMarre will make his first start at the position Sunday against the Texas Rangers.

Holt has played rehab games in Triple-A Pawtucket and is close to returning from a concussion suffered on May 7, but given Boston’s thin depth chart, manager John Farrell doesn’t want to take any chances.

Hear what he had to say — and watch NESN’s Tom Caron and WEEI’s Rob Bradford discuss whether the Red Sox should pursue a left fielder at the trade deadline — in the “Red Sox Gameday Live” video above.
