The Boston Red Sox need Clay Buchholz to step up to the challenge Sunday.
The right-hander will take the mound for the team’s series finale against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park, and with Boston’s bullpen getting heavy use in the previous two games, manager John Farrell is counting on Buchholz to work “as deep as he can” into Sunday’s outing.
“We’re going to need it (Sunday),” Farrell told reporters after Saturday night’s game, as seen on “Red Sox First Pitch.” “We’ve been going to that bullpen a lot, so it would be great to see him walk out for the sixth and possibly the seventh inning here (Sunday).”
