Red Sox-Orioles Lineups: Rusney Castillo To Make Second Start Of Season

BOSTON — Rusney Castillo hasn’t seen much action this year but he’ll get a full game to prove himself Thursday.

Castillo will start for just the second time this season and first time since April 9 for the Red Sox’s series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park.

He’ll bat seventh and play left field, replacing Chris Young, who exited Wednesday night’s game in the top of the ninth inning due to tightness in his right quad. Manager John Farrell said Young’s injury is minor and that he’ll be available to pinch-hit Thursday, if needed.

The 28-year-old Castillo has made seven appearances for Boston since being recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on May 31, mostly in a pinch-running capacity. He’s 2-for-5 with a double in five plate appearances this season.

Sandy Leon will replace Christian Vazquez behind the plate and bat ninth. He’ll do the catching for left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, who looks to bounce back after allowing nine earned runs in his last two starts.

The Orioles will counter with right-hander Tyler Wilson, who has surrendered 10 earned runs over his last two outings.
