BOSTON — The Red Sox haven’t been producing any offense for David Price this month, but this time, two runs were enough.
The Red Sox’s ace was spinning a gem Sunday, but the guys behind him didn’t put up any runs until the sixth inning. A Mookie Betts solo shot gave them the lead in the seventh, and luckily for Price, that was all he needed for his first win in June.
Here’s how it all went down.
GAME IN A WORD
Nail-biter.
Price was dealing, and the Red Sox were hitting, but the offense wasn’t bringing runners home for their ace. The game stayed close through a long nine innings, but the Red Sox were able to pull out the win.

Craig Kimbrel earned his 16th save of the season.
This one was too close to call before the final out.
ON THE BUMP
— Price pitched one heck of a game, and the Red Sox gave him just enough offense. The left-hander’s one blemish was a solo home run to Franklin Gutierrez in the fourth inning, but otherwise, Price was at the top of his game. The homer also was the only extra-base hit he gave up, as Price allowed one run on eight hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over eight innings.
Price now is 1-3Â with a 2.32 ERA in June.
— Craig Kimbrel pitched a 1-2-3, three strikeout ninth for the save.
IN THE BATTER’S BOX
— The Red Sox were in the business of stranding baserunners Sunday, going 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Leadoff hitter Mookie Betts put in work, though, going 3-for-5 with a solo home run.
— Hanley Ramirez knocked in Boston’s first run after grounding into a forceout in the six inning. The first baseman went 1-for-4.
— Xander Bogaerts scored the Red Sox’s first run, going 1-for-3 with a walk. His sixth-inning single was his 100th hit of the season, making him the first player in Major League Baseball to reach the 100-hit mark this season.
— Dustin Pedroia broke his three-game hitless streak — his longest of the season — by going 1-for-4 with a single in the third inning.
— David Ortiz went 1-for-3 and was intentionally walked and stole a base(!) in the seventh inning.
— Jackie Bradley Jr. came up big, going 2-for-3 with a triple in the eighth inning.
— Chris Young turned in a nice performance, going 2-for-4 with a double.
— Travis Shaw (0-for-2) and Christian Vazquez (0-for-4) both went hitless. Shaw worked an 11-pitch walk in the sixth inning and was intentionally walked in the eighth, though.
TWEET OF THE DAY
If David Ortiz steals predict World Series wins, then the Red Sox should be in good shape this season.
