Red Sox’s Defensive Miscues Prove Costly In Lopsided Loss To Rangers

The Boston Red Sox’s defense didn’t do starting pitcher Steven Wright any favors Saturday night.

The right-handed knuckleballer surrendered eight runs to the Texas Rangers over 4 2/3 innings, but only three were earned, as a series of defensive mishaps by Boston in the fifth inning allowed the Rangers to plate five unearned runs en route to a 10-3 win at Globe Life Park.

Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts scored one of his team’s three runs but also committed one of Boston’s two errors. Hear what he had to say about the Red Sox’s defense in the “Red Sox Final” video above.
