Report: Jacoby Brissett Signs Contract; All Patriots Rookie Deals Done

New England Patriots rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett reportedly is finally under contract.

Brissett signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin reported. All other Patriots selections signed their contracts shortly after the 2016 NFL Draft concluded in early May. Brissett’s deal took longer in part because he didn’t use an agent in the negotiating process, only an adviser.

Brissett, who was selected  in the third round (91st overall) of the 2016 draft, took part in organized team activities and minicamp despite not being signed to a contract. He struggled early in OTAs but impressed by the final session open to the media Monday.

Brissett likely will spend most of the 2016 season third on the Patriots’ quarterback depth chart. If Tom Brady’s four-game suspension holds, however, Brissett will be Jimmy Garoppolo’s backup to start the year.
