The Brooklyn Nets haven’t been shy about trading away draft picks, but now they’re replenishing their stock.
The Nets traded forward Thaddeus Young to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday in exchange for the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and a future second-round selection, league sources told The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Brooklyn originally was without a first-round pick, as the Nets shipped it to the Boston Celtics in the 2013 trade involving Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. The C’s will pick third in Thursday night’s draft.
The Pacers have been active in the days leading up to the draft. They also swung a deal Wednesday for point guard Jeff Teague, shipping out George Hill in the process. The trade for Young figures to give Indiana a versatile forward who can score.
Young, who turned 28 on Tuesday, averaged 15.1 points and a career-high 9.0 rebounds per game in 73 contests with the Nets this past season. He spent his first seven seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers before stopping in Minnesota and Brooklyn en route to Indiana.
