Isaiah Thomas’ Twitter Pitch To Jamal Crawford Fails; Clippers To Keep Guard

UPDATE (9:38 p.m. ET): It appears Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas’ Twitter pitch didn’t work, as Jamal Crawford told ESPN he will accept a three-year, $42 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

ORIGINAL STORY: Isaiah Thomas seems to be loving his role as the Boston Celtics’ lead recruiter of NBA free agents this summer.

In addition to being in contact with the likes of Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler and Al Horford, Thomas also took time Saturday to tweet at free-agent guard Jamal Crawford.

Crawford, the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year, has spent the last four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, but after they reportedly agreed to deals with guard Austin Rivers and swingman Wesley Johnson, there probably isn’t a high probability of the veteran going back to L.A.

Crawford would be a nice fit in Boston for the right price. He averaged 14.2 points per game off the Clippers’ bench in 2015-16 and remains a competent outside shooter.
