David Ortiz has never had any qualms about speaking his mind.

The Boston Red Sox slugger had a lot to say when his team got to New York on Friday to face the Yankees in a three-game series, including his thoughts on the latest development in Deflategate. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady decided to accept his four-game suspension instead of taking it to the U.S. Supreme Court, and Ortiz said he doesn’t know why.

“He probably has his reasons to do it,” Ortiz said Friday, per WEEI’s Rob Bradford. “He probably got tired of all this BS going on. Who knows? I’ll holler at him later and find out what’s up.”

But Ortiz recently got into a little trouble of his own after telling reporters before the All-Star Game that he wants the Red Sox to target Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez and Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion. Reports said Major League Baseball was looking into the comments for tampering, but Ortiz isn’t too concerned.

“What? Tampering who? Tampering?” Ortiz said, per Bradford. “I don’t write no paycheck. I can say whatever I want. I’m not a GM or a team owner or whatever. If I say tomorrow that I want to play with LeBron James, am I tampering, too?”

Ortiz isn’t actually correct about being able to say anything he wants, but according to the Boston Herald’s Evan Drellich, Big Papi will get off with a reminder of MLB’s tampering rules.
