BOSTON — David Ortiz now can say he’s a better home run hitter than Ted Williams.

The Red Sox slugger hit his 522nd career home run Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels — a solo shot to right field in the fifth inning — to pass Williams, Willie McCovey and Frank Thomas for 19th place on the all-time home runs list.

The home run was part of a three-run fifth inning for the Red Sox.

Ortiz also has 2,000 hits in a Red Sox uniform now, which puts him in seventh place.
