David Ortiz’s wardrobe for Sunday’s Boston Red Sox-Minnesota Twins game at Fenway Park included a unique accessory.

Ortiz, who did not play in the game, was spotted in the dugout wearing a 2013 Boston Marathon medal.

‘‘A friend of mine that ran the marathon gave it to me,’’ the Red Sox designated hitter told reporters, via The Associated Press. ‘‘I wear my jewelry on different days. I just put it on.’’

Ortiz was a major figure in Boston in the days following the 2013 marathon bombing, delivering his immediately iconic “This is our (expletive) city” speech before the first Red Sox home following the attack.

With Ortiz sitting out Sunday’s game, Hanley Ramirez filled in as Boston’s DH and bashed a three-run home run to help power the Sox to a 8-7 victory
