Fantasy Football Rankings: Cowboys Players You Should Draft, Avoid This Season

The Dallas Cowboys always are an intriguing team on the football field, and their fantasy prospects for the 2016 season are no different.

Injuries to Dez Bryant and Tony Romo cost many fantasy players dearly during the 2015 campaign, and more of the same could happen in 2016 when it comes to Darren McFadden.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the players you should draft, potential sleepers and the ones you should avoid.

DRAFT-WORTHY
Dez Bryant, Wide Receiver: Bryant might seem like a dangerous fantasy pick after an injury-shortened season and the foot and ankle surgeries that followed, but he would be a heck of a value pick late in the first round or early in the second. After all, he did have at least 1,200 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns each season from 2012 to 2014.

Tony Romo, Quarterback: Romo is coming off a four-game season, and at 36 years old, his health is a big question mark. But he still is capable of putting up big numbers, and he played in at least 15 games in each of the previous four seasons. Also, he might be a nice value pick if he drops in the QB sweet spot (rounds 3-6) because of wary fantasy owners.

Dan Bailey, Kicker: When it comes time to pick a kicker in one of the last few rounds, you can’t go wrong with Bailey. He made 100 percent of his extra points in 2015, and he also was tied for the league lead in field goal percentage (93.8).

AVOID
Darren McFadden, Running Back: It’s very hard to predict what stats McFadden will put up this season, so let someone else reach for him. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said earlier in June that McFadden likely will miss a couple of months due to his mysterious elbow injury, and he’s also a risky pick with Ezekiel Elliot now in the fold.

Jason Witten, Tight End: Witten’s days as a reliable No. 1 fantasy tight end might be over. Sure, he had Romo’s backups throwing to him for most of last season, but he still managed just three touchdown catches.

SLEEPER
Ezekiel Elliott, Running Back: Elliott already is climbing up mock draft boards and could be taken as high as the first few rounds in some leagues if McFadden isn’t ready for the regular season. Expectations certainly are high for the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 draft.
