BOSTON — The Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night, but they took their lumps in the process.

First baseman Hanley Ramirez fouled a ball off his shin and was replaced in the eighth inning, while left fielder Brock Holt exited the game with a left ankle sprain after an awkward slide into second base.

Both players are on the bench Saturday for the middle game of Boston’s three-game set with Tampa at Fenway Park. Travis Shaw will replace Ramirez at first base and bat seventh, while Bryce Brentz gets the call in left field and will bat eighth. Center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. bumps up to Ramirez’s No. 5 spot in the order.

Rick Porcello will take the mound for the Red Sox seeking his team-high 11th win. The 27-year-old right-hander has earned a victory in three of his last four starts and is a perfect 7-0 at Fenway Park this season.

The Rays will counter with left-hander Matt Moore, who allowed zero runs on just three hits against the Sox on June 29.
