NBA Rumors: Anderson Varejao, Warriors Agree To One-Year Contract

Anderson Varejao is returning to the Golden State Warriors, according to multiple reports.

Varejao was signed by the Warriors last season after the veteran center spent the first 11 years of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ironically, it was the Cavs who denied Varejao an opportunity to win his first NBA championship when Cleveland beat Golden State in an exciting seven-game NBA Finals series last month.

Varejao’s return isn’t surprising at all. The Warriors have dedicated a lot of salary cap space to Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant and, to a lesser extent, Andre Iguodala. Golden State will need to surround those players with cheap contracts like Varejao’s.

Varejao averaged 2.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 53 games between the Cavaliers and Warriors last season.
