NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant Shopped For OKC Home Week Before Joining Warriors

Kevin Durant really must have had a last-minute change of heart.

Durant admitted after signing with the Golden State Warriors earlier this month that it was a very difficult decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to ESPN’s Royce Young, Durant even considered buying property in the OKC area just a week before joining Golden State.

“(Durant) assured people he was coming back,” Young wrote in an article published Tuesday. “Even the week before he took off for the Hamptons, he was in Nichols Hills, a suburb of Oklahoma City, seriously looking to buy a multi-million dollar home. The Thunder had every reason to believe he was going to stay to finish what he started.”

Durant met with six teams — the Warriors, Thunder, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat — in the Hamptons the weekend of the Fourth of July. The widespread belief going in was that Durant ultimately would re-sign with the Thunder, but the Warriors’ sales pitch ended up being enough to lure the former NBA MVP away from the organization that drafted him in 2007.
