NBA Rumors: Title Contender Plans To Poach Stephen Curry From Warriors

The Golden State Warriors will have 29 teams gunning for them this season, but like any superteam, they could end up being their own biggest enemy if everyone isn’t on the same page.

The addition of Kevin Durant gives the Warriors a potentially dominant quartet, as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all are superstars in their own right. But Golden State has been Curry’s team, meaning he’s the one who usually takes the final shot, and the rest of the league is hoping Durant’s presence will create chemistry issues that are too big to overcome.

In fact, according to Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher, one of the NBA’s title contenders already is planning to poach Curry from the Warriors if his relationship with Durant sours.

Curry technically can become a free agent next summer, and the assumption has been that he’ll stay put with the Warriors for the foreseeable future. He seemingly loves the city, the organization and his teammates, so there never really was any reason to believe he’d consider leaving.

But what if Durant starts hogging all of the shots, particularly in late-game situations? Would that bother Curry enough that he’d consider jumping ship to again become “the guy” on another team?

It’s a scenario the Warriors certainly don’t want to envision, but never underestimate the power of egos, especially as it relates to NBA superstars.
