The Golden State Warriors agreed to a two-year contract with superstar free agent Kevin Durant on Monday in a move that could result in the departure of several role players from last season’s roster.
The Warriors have a lot of high-priced players, so some tough decisions will be made. The Dallas Mavericks already agreed to trade for Warriors center Andrew Bogut in a move that will clear salary cap space for Golden State.
One player who is staying for at least another season, though, is backup point guard Shaun Livingston, a source told ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.
“By remaining on the Warriors’ roster as of June 30, Livingston’s remaining $5.8 million became fully guaranteed for next season,” Spears wrote.
Livingston was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, but injuries derailed his early career. He played for eight different teams before joining the Warriors before the 2014-15 campaign.
The 11-year veteran averaged 6.3 points and three assists per game last season. He started three of the 78 games in which he played.
