It’s safe to say Bruins center David Backes is happy to be in Boston.

Backes was with the St. Louis Blues for 10 seasons and was team captain for four, so it wasn’t easy for him to join the Bruins in free agency this summer. However, he told NESN’s Tom Caron on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Wednesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers that he was confident he made the right choice.

“It’s really tough,” Backes said. “When you have 10 years on being in one spot, there’s a lot that goes into those decisions, but I think we made a good one. We’re really happy with the town, the hockey fit, just talking to all the guys on the team just seems like a dream fit, and we’re ready to get started.”
