Charles ‘Peanut’ Tillman Forces All Sorts Of Fumbles In Funny Retirement Video
The man behind the “Peanut Punch” is punching out.
Charles “Peanut” Tillman announced Monday that he’s retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers.
The defensive back broke the news in a creative way, posting a video on Twitter of himself forcing fumbles of all kinds.
Peanut patented the “Peanut Punch” and used it effectively throughout his illustrious career, recording 38 interceptions and — most impressively — forcing 44 fumbles.
To put that stat into context, only Robert Mathis, who is a pass rusher, has as many forced fumbles since the 35-year-old Tillman came into the league back in 2003. Charles Woodson is the next closest DB with 23 forced fumbles in that time frame.
Tillman was a key member of the 2006 Bears and 2015 Panthers teams, both of which relied on strong defenses to win the NFC Championship.
