BOSTON — The Red Sox will send quite the crew to this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

MLB announced the American and National League rosters for the 2016 All-Star Game on Tuesday night, and six Red Sox players made the cut.

Here are Boston’s representatives for the Midsummer Classic in San Diego:

*David Ortiz, designated hitter
*Xander Bogaerts, shortstop
*Mookie Betts, outfielder
*Jackie Bradley Jr., outfielder
Steven Wright, starting pitcher
Craig Kimbrel, relief pitcher
*denotes starter

The Red Sox’s 2016 All-Star squad is its largest since the club sent six players to the 2008 All-Star Game. The Sox also have the chance to add a seventh member, as second baseman Dustin Pedroia is in the running for the All-Star Game Final Vote, in which fans select the final player for both the AL and NL rosters. Boston hasn’t sent seven players to the Midsummer Classic since 2002.

This will be the 10th All-Star appearance for Ortiz in his 20th and final season and the fifth All-Star Game for Kimbrel. Bogaerts, Bradley, Betts and Wright all will be making their All-Star Game debuts.

Ortiz and Bogaerts have led All-Star voting at their respective positions throughout the season, while Betts and Bradley each made late surges in voting to give Boston four starters at Petco Park on July 12.

“We’ve got a number of starters, and I think that’s more of a validation around the country for the votes that they’ve generated, not just by our fans,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said before Tuesday’s game against the Texas Rangers. “Whether they’re young players or a veteran as David is, this is a great combination of players that we’re going to send to San Diego.”
