The Boston Red Sox have been pretty busy Thursday.

Shortly after the Sox reportedly acquired starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz from the San Diego Padres for pitching prospect Anderson Espinoza, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman tweeted that Boston and 2016 first-round pick draft Jason Groome agreed to a 3.65 million signing bonus, pending a physical.

The Boston Herald’s Evan Drellich later confirmed the deal.

The Red Sox selected Groome, a highly touted 17-year-old left-hander out of Barnegat High School in New Jersey, with the 12th overall pick in the draft.

Friday is the deadline for draft picks to sign with their new teams.
